I t is now spring

And although the weather doesn't change much in Gran Canaria, I must admit that the arrival of the warmth is noticeable.

Gran Canaria is a place with many microclimates and depending on where you are you can feel more or less the intensity of the sun.

If you have ever come to visit us, I am sure you already know the most touristic areas of the island, such as Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico, Arguineguín or Mogán.

But today I am going to tell you a little bit about each of them. So you can see what we have to offer and that not everything is sun and beach. We also have a lot of culture and magical places that encourage you to do all kinds of activities.

• THE SOUTH OF GRAN CANARIA: PARADISIACAL BEACHES AND A LOT TO OFFER IN TERMS OF DAY AND NIGHT LIFE •

The south of Gran Canaria has a great selection of restaurants from all over the world. Canarian food is the most popular, but there is also a wide variety of Asian food, the most popular being Japanese and Chinese, Lebanese, Peruvian, Norwegian, Filipino, Italian, African, and much more gastronomy from all over the world.

Some of our favourites are Palocortado at the Hotel Faro Lopesan Collection, El Senador on the beachfront of Maspalomas or La Punta Yatch Club, where you can also enjoy its hammocks and chill out area.

Also, the south of the island is the hottest part of Gran Canaria with temperatures never dropping below 20 degrees in winter or rising above 35 degrees in summer. The nightlife on offer is wonderful and most of it is outdoors. If you are looking to be on the beach, eat well and go out for drinks, the south of the island is the most touristy part of the island and your ideal place.

• THE NORTH OF GRAN CANARIA: THE WILDEST SIDE OF THE ISLAND •

This is the greenest part of the island, it rains a bit more here, but the temperatures are not so different from the south, although they are always a couple of degrees lower, which helps you to enjoy your day to day life in a different way.

The north of the island is ideal for shopping, eating well and seeing local people in the streets. There are cinemas, theatres, museums and other cultural activities to satisfy the most demanding of people. There is no doubt that the north of Gran Canaria offers very different activities and activities than the south. And although the north has the magnificent Playa de Las Canteras, in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria itself, I have to admit that, when it comes to beaches, the south takes the podium.

On the other hand, in the north you can enjoy more of the mountains, rural or urban tourism of quality and an endless number of activities that only the islanders know how to offer. If you come to the north of the island, you cannot miss Vegueta, Las Canteras, Triana or Agaete , with its coffee factory and exquisite wines.

• THE CENTRE OF THE ISLAND: THE PEACE OF THE COUNTRYSIDE •

this is the most rural part of the island, with a distinct charm due to its wilder aspect and friendlier people. This is where our agriculture and livestock farming come from. This would be an ideal place to disconnect from your day to day life and reconnect with yourself. The centre of the island offers a feeling of peace and tranquillity that only the native flora and fauna can give you. The land in the centre roots you and brings you back to your special essence, the one you thought you had lost. It is an idyllic place to stroll and do nothing. Just like the rest of the island, you'll eat like a king and feel full and complete.

You get the picture? This island is magical because it has something for everyone and every moment. If you come to visit or you are thinking of buying a house in Gran Canaria, I recommend that you rent a car and drive around the island from top to bottom. I am sure you will be surprised.

In recent years, and increasingly so, tourists have been open to investing in off-the-beaten-track areas, in areas that were hitherto the preserve of the locals. Without realising it, sustainable tourism has developed in almost every village on the island.
