How to Install Solar Panels at Home

30 11 - 2020
La Boutique Canary Real State Blog - How to install solar panels at home

The Canary Islands is the European region with the most hours of sunshine, a fact that should be used not only to attract tourism but also to ensure that respect for the environment is more frequent.

In some areas of Gran Canaria, 4800 hours of light a year can be exceeded, the goodness of its temperatures also helps to reduce energy consumption. With an average outdoor temperature of 20º, there is less need to water for the shower than if it were in a cold area. Likewise, having an average maximum annual temperature of 24º helps that many homes do not need air conditioning to enjoy maximum comfort inside.

With the installation of photovoltaic panels at home you will not only be saving money but you will help to take care of the environment thanks to the use of clean energy.

Subsidies for the installation of solar panels

Most of the City Councils of the Canary Islands make rebates in the IBI for those homes and businesses that have photovoltaic panels.

In Gran Canaria there are subsidies for solar panels for both SMEs and single-family homes, without neglecting neighboring communities.

The subsidy for the installation of solar panels   for self-consumption is € 1 for each installed watt, provided they do not exceed € 3000.

If you are not sure that you can qualify for subsidies for the installation of solar panels, you must bear in mind that photovoltaic panels pay for themselves. It is estimated that the useful life of a solar panel is 20 years, the savings in the electricity bill are usually between 50-60% and the return on investment is usually achieved within 10 years.

Heating swimming pools with solar panels

The installation cost for swimming pools pays for itself in about 5 years, or even less, if you use the pool throughout the year. Its maintenance is very cheap and simple, it will be necessary to clean the surface of the panels, check the joints and renew the glycol to make them last more than 30 years. Once the installation has paid off its initial investment, you will enjoy free energy to heat the water in the pool or keep the purifier running. With the use of solar panels to air-condition the house, hot water is also generated for the house.

If you are going to heat an outdoor pool, it is mandatory that it be done with renewable energy (solar panels or biomass). If you only want to heat the pool, the most economical option is that of roller solar collectors. With these collectors you can increase the water temperature up to 10ºC, a highly recommended option in the Canary Islands.

Solar energy does not emit greenhouse gases or generate environmental impact. If you opt for photovoltaic panels you will have energy of 100% renewable origin. You will not have to worry about the electricity bill or its price fluctuation.

If you have a large garden you may want to install them in an area that you do not use, if not, installing them on the roof is the most common, a way to take advantage of the space to achieve the best energy efficiency. Remember that some power companies may be willing to buy you the excess energy you produce. Not only will you be making a profit to make your investment profitable sooner, but you will also be helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by facilitating the use of clean energy.

Together we take small steps towards energy sustainability and resource optimization.

Thanks to solar panels you can heat your pool throughout the year without noticing it on your electricity bill.

The houses we offer at La Boutique · Canary Real Estate are designed for enjoyment, some of them already have solar panels installed so maintenance will be much more affordable.
